The quintessential South Beach morning fantasy usually involves a sun-drenched stroll along the water, a perfectly brewed coffee in hand, and a happy dog trotting right through the pristine white sand. While local regulations restrict pets from the main shoreline along Ocean Drive unless you head north to the 21st Street Bark Beach, our neighborhood offers incredible alternatives just two blocks inland.

At Café Bastille Miami Beach, located right on Washington Avenue between 5th and 6th Street, we know that finding the best breakfast in Miami Beach for you and your pet means looking for a welcoming atmosphere, shaded seating, and high-quality food. Our outdoor space offers that experience, giving dog owners a morning destination that matches the coastal energy without the sand.

In this guide:

Local Bark Rules Before a South Beach Brunch

Miami Beach city rules prohibit dogs on the sand across the main South Beach public areas, but you have dedicated options nearby. There are exactly two designated Bark Beach exceptions for your morning beach run. The first is the 21st Street beachfront right in South Beach, and the second is the 53rd Street location in Mid Beach. Access to both areas is limited to morning hours. From November to March, dogs are allowed from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and from April to October, the hours shift to 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Dogs must remain leashed at all times when outside these designated boundaries. After a morning run at the 21st Street Bark Beach or a walk along the neighborhood's paved pathways, you will want a comfortable place to sit down and eat.

Our Chic Sidewalk Patio for Breakfast in Miami Beach

Dining with a pet means finding a space where you both feel completely at ease. At Café Bastille Miami Beach, our 20-seat outdoor terrace sits right on Washington Avenue, located comfortably between 5th and 6th Street. The space has marble bistro tables, fringed umbrellas, and a lush vine canopy with hanging greenery that give plenty of shade from the Florida sun. This setup allows your dog to rest comfortably on the distinctive pink sidewalk while you settle in for your morning meal. Guests join us with their dogs on the patio, enjoying the neighborhood breeze just two blocks inland from Ocean Drive as the city wakes up.

Fresh Ingredients for a South Beach Brunch Menu

Avo & Eggs on a pink floral plate with two sunny eggs, a fanned half avocado and toasted multigrain sourdough, a mimosa beside it, the best breakfast in Miami Beach.

Many outdoor patios limit their morning offerings, but our kitchen cooks the same full menu whether you sit inside or out on the terrace with your dog. We cook exclusively with beef tallow, extra virgin olive oil, and butter, and we do not use seed oils in our cooking process. We source cage-free eggs and free-range chicken for our dishes, ensuring the food matches the quality of your morning.

If you want a savory start, our Smoked Salmon omelette uses four cage-free eggs folded with tomatoes, pickled onions, spinach, and a touch of truffle oil, served alongside our house potatoes and toasted multigrain sourdough. Our Country Ham Benedict features two poached eggs covered in hollandaise, thick-cut bacon, country ham, and cilantro aioli, paired with our signature potatoes.

The Avo & Eggs pairs a half avocado with two eggs prepared to your preference, served over toasted multigrain sourdough. Our Short Rib Bun stacks tender beef short rib and its au jus, arugula, pickled onions, cilantro, and feta on a soft brioche bun. For a sweeter morning, we bake a Nutella Croissant featuring a flaky, buttery pastry shell filled with Nutella.

Morning Cocktails During a Miami Beach Breakfast

We pour just as much attention into our beverage program. We pull our espresso on La Marzocco machines using a 100% Arabica Vienna XVI Blend from Julius Meinl, a Viennese roaster founded in 1862. The blend carries tasting notes of hazelnut, dark chocolate, and caramelized cereals that pair perfectly with our Café Latte.

If you prefer matcha, we serve ceremonial-grade matcha sourced from Uji, Japan. The shade-grown tea leaves provide a smooth, umami flavor. We serve it iced as a Cloud Matcha, layering matcha foam over chilled coconut water. We also offer seed-oil-free non-dairy milks for any of our coffee or matcha beverages. If you are ready to begin the weekend, you can kick off the morning with a vibrantly crafted Passion Fruit Margarita, mixing tequila and fresh lime with a Tajín rim.

Parking Options Near a South Beach Brunch

Our location at 538 Washington Avenue makes getting to your table straightforward. When you have a dog on a leash, finding a nearby spot saves you from navigating long stretches of busy pedestrian traffic.

The Miami Beach Parking Garage on 7th Street is a four-minute walk from our front door, with rates starting at $2 per hour. The Fifth & Alton Miami Beach Public Parking garage is roughly a ten-minute walk away, but it offers the first two hours free, giving your dog a little extra time to stretch their legs on the way over. General street parking is available around the neighborhood, usually about a six-minute walk from our patio, at roughly $4 per hour. Parking rates and availability change based on local events and the season, so check the street signs when you arrive.
